Cruising Code Zero Sail

Do you often sail with a small or inexperienced crew?
Are you sailing solo / single handed?
Do you have “spinnaker anxiety”?

Our (Code D style) Cruising Code Zero is a simple and effective Code Zero solution for sailing cruisers that combines the advantages of an asymmetrical and that of an overlapping genoa, covering an AWA range of 60-140 – pretty close to the asymmetrical range (80-155) and much simpler to deploy and retrieve.

We can package it with a Seldén CX furler (a regular, “not-top-down furler”) – providing ease of install and greater ease of use.

The Cruising Code Zero is in a way a furling spinnaker with almost all the advantages of an asymmetrical spinnaker:

  • AWA apparent wind angles: 60 – 140
  • Contender Nylite or Maxilite spinnaker fabric available in 12 colors to design your own color theme
  • If necessary, can be used on a pole, or by reefing the mainsail to sail further downing unimpeded by the main wind shadow, at AWA 165-180
  • Can be mounted on the bow or bowsprit
  • Built with a Vectran anti-twist braid integrated into the luff
  • Easy furling on a classic furler (simpler and less expensive than a top down furler)
  • Easy to adjust – like a genoa
  • Easy jibe with furling – unwinding under the new tack
  • Great for catamarans or monohull alike

We make it with the same high quality standards as our other downwind sails:

  • Tri-radial cut , for greater strength.
  • Radial corner reinforcements
  • Vectran built-in leech line
  • Webbed stainless steel ring at all corners
  • Small panels for increased strength and resistance over time
  • 6-step seams in Tenara anti-UV thread (optional)
  • Velcro clew to keep it securely furled  – especially important if you choose the optional anti-UV strip
  • Optional Code 0 bag for furled sails
  • Optional logos and designs on the sail
  • Optional light anti-UV strip which allows the sail to be left hoisted  / furled

The Cruising Code Zero has a straighter luff and is a smaller sail than an asymmetrical spinnaker.

Our sails however are all made with smaller panels to ensure maximum strength and resistance over time.

We usually make our Cruising Code Zero (Code D type) in the same cloth as our spinnakers, Contender Nylite or Maxilite cloth. Since a Cruising Code Zero is a custom designed sail which is specifically designed for your boat, you will be able to choose your color theme.

We can also design a cruising code zero sail in Stormlite cloth, still a Contender cloth.

This is the ideal set!

We can provide Seldén’s furlers complete with line and accessories as we are a Seldén distributor. Guaranteed compatibility with a Cruising Code Zero; discount when purchased with the sail.
